2) Doctored Locks Gift Certificate

Doctored Locks is a trusted seller of wigs, hair pieces and extensions, and other hair styling products. Cosplayer and Wig Styler, Katie Blair recommends this site, and often purchases materials through it for her creations. G/Cs range between $10 to $500 and can be snail or e-mailed.

3) Hancock Fabrics Gift Card

One of the largest retailers of craft supplies and fabric, if you can’t find it available on Hancock’s website, then you can check out one of their numerous retail stores throughout the U.S.

4) Amazon.com Gift Card

Amazon.com is an international known proprietor of books, movies, and other media. But they also sell items offer by their various affiliate sellers. Items that include: make-up, sewing machines, and official cosplay accessories. Not to mention the books and videos on sewing, special fx make-up, and prop building that are available.

5) Ebay.com Gift Card

The MTV cable channel’s True Life documentary series has announced a casting call for an upcoming “True Life: I’m a Fanboy” episode that will profile fans of anime, manga, comics, and fantasy novels. Cosplaying and overnight lining before movie premieres or book releases will be among the examples of fan activities the documentary plans to look at, while issues to be highlighted include fandom interfering with work or school, and being misunderstood by parents and significant others. Potential participants (both male and female) who would like to appear on the show must be between the ages of 16 and 28 and are asked to submit an application, along with their name, e-mail address, phone, and a recent photo to fanboy@mtvnet.com.

Since it premiered in 1998, True Life’s episodes have looked at such themes as addiction to crystal meth, returning from service in Iraq, stuttering, and not trusting one’s boyfriend or girlfriend. It has since been honored by awards from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, the Entertainment Industries Council, and the NAACP.

Cosmode, the leading cosplay magazine in the world, is looking to add a new feature page to its magazine with profile photos of cosplayers from outside of Japan. This page will be done in conjunction with Cosplay.com.

This will be a regular feature in the Japan version of Cosmode, starting in issue 24 (October issue).

To be included in the first one, please submit the following by September 10th at the latest:

• One (1) good quality photo to be used as a profile shot. Please make sure that it’s not a scenic image, but a close-up (full-body is ok) photo of you in cosplay. Cosmode will likely crop the photo.
• Cosplay.com Username
• Cosplay.com ID # (your member ID, found in your URL)
• Country

Please send everything via email to submissions@cosplay.com. In the subject, you can put “Cosmode 24 Profile” or something similar.

Rules
You must be a Cosplay.com member in good standing.
You must be at least 18.
You must have at least three (3) costumes in your Cosplay.com profile, with icons.
You must have a profile icon.
You must have at least five (5) photos uploaded on Cosplay.com.
You MUST have permission to submit the photo that you are submitting. By submitting an image you warrant that you have permission to allow the photo to be published in print.
The photo must not have any text, CG or other writing anywhere on the image.
The photo must be a solo shot of you in your costume, not a group photo.

Cosmode will choose up to 25 of the shots, and put them in a collage on one page, listing your Cosplay.com ID and Username. Please note that depending on the number of submissions, there will likely be a number that are not accepted the first time around. This is a space limitation only - we will be doing this in each issue and a new group of 20-25 people will get featured each time. Each member may only be featured once.

We will post information on Cosmode 25 submissions in October, allowing for more time for that issue.

It’s a rather simple process, but please post any questions in this thread.

Info on photo quality:
Please send in the largest filesize you can for the image, the larger the better. I recommend at least 700 pixels on the long end. Optimal size would be over 1024. If you can submit a 240 or 300dpi version, even better. The image does not need to be from a pro-level shoot, but should be a decent, clear photo.

Then Hurricane Gustav showed up last week, and basically reaked havok on everybody’s lives in Southern Louisiana. So my family and I had to evacuate all the way to Tallahassee, FL for the past few days so that we could avoid the storm.

We’ve since returned, and I’ve had to deal with sewage problems (400 of the 505 pumps are out), all the food in our fridge rottening due the power outage, and many people I know are without electricity/their homes are damaged. To top that off, I have to get back into the mind frame for school on Monday. -_-”

Can someone please stop the merry-go-round, I want to get off?

Howdy everyone,
We’re looking for cosplayers (individuals or teams) in the Los Angeles area to help with a new Web Anime Update project we’re working on.

Basically, we’re going for a weekly anime update online. We want to have cosplay groups come in on occasion to do reinactments of scenes from the week’s events. We’re also looking for mass amounts of cosplayers to help with our photoshoot for our website. So whether you like acting in costume, or just posing, we could use you!

If you want to be involved or know of any ideas on groups in the area, please let us know, and we’ll get you more information!
